Players
Kevin
Breit
Kevin wears many musical hats -- not only does he front two bands of his own,
Sisters Euclid and Folkalarm, he has recorded and toured with Cassandra Wilson,
K.D. Lang, Norah Jones, Holly Cole
and many others. If it has strings he can play it. Kevin is an eclectic, dynamic
musician.
Bill
Frisell
Over the years Bill Frisell has recorded an incredible variety of music, all
stamped with his unique approach to playing and composing. Bill has a much-deserved
reputation around the globe for his artful playing. I like everything he's
done.
Carmen
Elle
Young
singer/songwriter, guitarist extraordinaire (also my daughter). Check out
the songs posted on her site.
The Henrys
Instrumental acoustic roots jazz driven by Don Rooke's Kona Hawaiian slide
guitar. Fabulous original music.
Jin Hi Kim
Some people would know Jin Hi Kim as a muscian well-versed in traditional
Korean music. I know her work as an experimental acoustic and electronic composer
and improviser.
Michael
Pickett
Michael continues to turn the blues into a personal and intimate expression.
His harmonica playing is outstanding and he backs his distinctive vocals with
cool fingerstyle and bottleneck acoustic guitar.
Steve Miller
Steve has a great feel for the square neck dobro and lap steel. His cd "Dobrology:
From Bop to Broadway on the steel guitar" covers many musical styles,
including show tunes and country and jazz classics.
BeBop Cowboys
The BeBop Cowboys are single-handedly creating a western swing revival here
in Toronto. These guys are fun to hear live. Lots of great pedal steel from
Burke Carroll and swinging guitar lines from Steve Briggs.
Christopher Bennett
When most kids were playing street hockey, Chris was collecting and listening
to old 78s and 45s. The result is an encycolpedic knowledge of music, guitars
and guitar playing styles. Check out his playing on his cd "Room with
a clue".
Don Bray
Don and I are old friends. As long as I've known him he's been a great fingerstyle
guitar player. He always comes up with interesting and often humorous original
songs.
